  • Produce three shows a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) which includes leading weekly content meetings, finding locations and events, writing show and technical scripts, editing interviews and segments using Final Cut Pro.

  • Anchor go! Saskatoon: a half-hour community news magazine featuring local stories and interviews on location in Saskatoon.

  • Generate original story and segment ideas; shoot (with ENG P2 cameras), write and edit local stories to air in go! Saskatoon .

  • Host and produce special broadcasts e.g. YWCA Women of Distinction Awards, Earth Day Saskatchewan, We Day Saskatchewan.

  • Assist with live mobile productions. Covered variety of roles including graphics, camera operator, social media reporter and colour commentator.

  • Work with community producers to create segments relevant to our audience; shooter/ editor for go!Health, a weekly exercise segment .

  • Generate original feature story ideas for CFB Shilo military beat; frequent visits to base and training ground.

  • Find Manitoba stories with national appeal and communicate daily with Toronto news team daily on coverage plan.

  • Shoot and FTP broll and interviews in Winnipeg to aide stories for other bureaus and supplement the all-day live newscast. 

  • Frequently pitch original stories with appeal to Sun News audience, shoot/ edit package for talk show special reports, roughly 3 minutes in length; complete with two promos, web story and script for taped on-air debrief with host following airing.

  • Cover breaking news live followed by in-studio and field hits.

  • Received one week of additional training in Toronto on Avid editing software, smaller P2 camera used in bureau, and iNews.

Executive Producer | 2013 Cause for Paws telethon, Shaw TV Saskatoon

November 2012 - June 2, 2013

  • Worked closely with members of the Saskatoon SPCA to propose a six-hour live telethon benefitting the shelter in November 2012.

  • Lead a team of volunteers and staff and began pre-production in January 2013. More than 20 features were created for the broadcast; I wrote, shot and edited fourteen.

  • Produced technical scripts and line-ups for entire show; oversaw all details such as name, logo/set design and final crew selection. 

  • Promoted the event during live interview on Global Morning, in a Metro Saskatoon news article and online with the hashtag #SPCAtelethon.

  • Hosted alongside Shaw TV and Global Saskatoon team members.

  • Raised $10,000 and eight animals featured on the telethon were adopted.  

  • Slated to be an annual telethon on Shaw TV Saskatoon.

  • Live television class involved planning and executing the 2012 Iambs 1001 Donations telethon with The Winnipeg Humane Society. Pre-produced pack stories and hosted during nine-hour live event aired on Shaw TV Winnipeg. Included two placements; Shaw TV Winnipeg and Winnipeg Free Press

  • Layout editor for quarterly online newsletter The Brigade; distributed to Department of National Defense employees and families.

  • Awarded Commander’s Team Coin for civilian work with the Canadian Forces.

  • Covered breaking and community news for The Winnipeg Free Press (print and online); wrote web articles and created videos specifically for WFP TV.
  • Contracted with CJOB 68 for 2011 provincial election coverage; Live-tweeted leaders’ debate from CJOB 68 studio; provided live post-debate analysis.

  • Pitch, write and package original content for web (daily) and broadcast (feature).

  • Respond to breaking news with fast dissemination on web platforms.

  • Manage content for winnipeg.ctvnews.ca including uploading video, pictures and copy.

  • Trained on CTV web system Polopoly to post original and Canadian Press content to web; write headlines for the site and Google; create tags, keywords and cutlines; edit and search databases for images; upload video and edit together digital exclusives as website value adds. 

  • Further promote and interact with web materials through Facebook and Twitter.

  • Shoot, write and edit web extra videos and longer broadcast pieces.

  • Fill-in Assignment Editor. Run morning story meetings, monitor fire/ ambulance scanner and assign content to shooters/reporters for the six news cast. Work closely with national AE in Toronto to gather and share appropriate elements for News Channel.

  • Work closely with advertising clients to craft effective Ask the Expert pieces. Some written on behalf of companies, with appropriate approvals.

  • Assisted in the launch through strategic meetings with publishers and as an organizer for launch party successfully bringing together neighbours and advertisers.
